*Haeger Potteries company started as a brickyard along the Fox River in 1852, using clay from the riverbank. David H. Haeger, a German immigrant, became part owner of the Dundee Brickyard in 1871. In 1934, Royal Arden Hickman (1893-1969) joined the firm to design a line of artware sold under the brand name "Royal Haeger". Hickman was the chief designer from 1938-1944. Since going out of business in 2016, Haeger pieces have become highly collectible.

*The P.A.L.T. mark was used by Porzellanfabrik Adolf Laufer, a porcelain factory in business in Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia. It is now called Trnovany, Czech Republic. The factory was in business from 1919 to 1938. Some Adolf Laufer porcelain was made for export to the United States.

*Dr. John Wall founded the Worcester Porcelain Company in 1751 and the Worcester Royal Porcelain Company Ltd was formed in 1862. Although the mark has evolved over the years, the standard printed factory mark included the number ‘51’ in the center that refers to the year 1751. The marks most likely resemble the year of manufacture.

*Tony Evans (1942-2009) was a Welshman whose innovative contributions to materials were enormous and recognized with the highest accolades in science and engineering. Among his many achievements, he amassed experts in phase equilibria for the design of new coating materials, processing of superalloys and ceramic coatings. He developed analytical concepts to predict failure life-time with subcritical crack growth data. He was one of few people who are simultaneously well known among the ceramics, metallurgy and mechanics communities. He did pioneering work in exploiting the interface between mechanical and materials science. In 2009 he died after a year-long bout with cancer.

*William J. Blenko, located in Milton, West Virginia, is known for its artistic hand-blown glass. Blenko was born in London, England in 1853. He worked at a glass factory in his youth. In 1893, he emigrated to Kokomo, Indiana, in the US, where he established the first American factory to produce sheet glass for stained glass windows. In 1903, he was forced to close his factory and return to England, due to an economic downturn. Eventually, he started a new company, naming it Eureka Glass Company, and later changing the name to Blenko. The Great Depression soon after decimated the stained glass market and Blenko began to produce stemware and tableware. Blenko Glass Company still produces hand-blown sheet glass for use in stained glass windows, as well as architectural glass.

*Josef Inwald was an Austrian and Czech entrepreneur in the glass industry. In 1862, he opened a glass factory in Germany, and a second in 1874. The company specialized in siphon bottles, window panes, and then eventually art glass. Barolac was a line of frosted glasswares made by Inwald for retailer John Jenkins & Son of London. The pieces are unmarked, but highly sought after.

*The Artesania Rinconada Collection is world renowned for its artistic originality, whimsy and lovingly handmade execution. The folk art figures are fine examples of traditional and contemporary ceramic design. Each piece is hand-carved in fine grain earthenware, fired in a kiln, then finished with the hand application of colored slips and enamel glazes, which are individually refired. The Classic Collection pieces produced from the early 1970s through the late 1980s are mostly retired and scarce. The Collection was started by twin brothers Jesus and Javier Carbajales in 1972 in Montevideo, Uruguay. Born in Spain in 1930, the brothers moved to Uruguay with their family after the outbreak of the Spanish Civil war in 1936. They retained their Spanish roots, particularly the influence of 20th century masters Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Joan Miró, as they developed their artistic vision and skills.

*The Roseville Pottery Company was an American art pottery manufacturer in the 19th and 20th centuries. It was one of the few major art potteries located in Ohio around the turn of the 20th century. Though the company originally made simple household pieces, the Arts and Crafts—inspired designs proved popular, and Roseville pieces are now sought after by collectors.

*Tiara Exclusives, a multi-level marketing company owned by Lancaster Colony, began in 1970. Glassware made by the companies owned by Lancaster Colony (including Indiana Glass), was sold via home parties- similar to the way Tupperware is marketed. The glassware sold through Tiara that was made by Indiana Glass was often produced using old patterns. Although the Tiara selling organization no longer exists, a few select pieces of Tiara glass are still being produced. In 1999, Home Interiors began offering Tiara Sandwich Glass dinnerware in a plum color.
