The jar has a 4-1/2” square bodied shape that is 9-1/4” tall. The jar is clearly embossed, “Ball Perfect Mason Made in U.S.A.” On the side of the jar is an incremented scale divided into cups and pints. It is marked up to 3 cups and 6 pints and when filled to the top it is unmarked but holds 4 cups and 8 pints (which is a half-gallon). The lid is marked ‘Ball’ and the underside has a porcelain lining. The bottom of the jar is textured glass.
