The Bickerton Portable was manufactured in England from 1971 until 1989. It is considered a classic and one of the most desirable bikes produced in that era. The bike has small wheels (14" front/16" rear) and a very sturdy but lightweight aluminum frame which folds in half, folding handle bars and a removable seat post which permits the entire bike to fold to a very compact size to permit easy, compact transport. See photos of the bike folded down to a shopping bag size. Total weight is about 23 pounds.
This bike is an early model and thus is very collectible. The all-aluminum frame and fenders are all in good condition but could use some polishing. The bike frame is designed for ease of use with a very low standover height. Great for both men and women! The bike has an excellent and very comfortable KHS saddle. The Sturmey Archer three-speed shift system works perfectly. The tires and tubes are all in good condition. The small tires make the bike very responsive and excellent for hill climbing. The caliper brakes stop the bike instantly. .
As an added bonus I will add a spare pair of new front and rear tires plus two new spare inner tubes. This set of tires and tubes is worth about $75. I also have some additional spare Bickerton tires and tubes which I could make available at very reasonable prices.
There are currently several Bickerton Portable bicycles listed on eBay at prices from $225 to $350 plus shipping cost. The bike I am offering is in comparable condition to those on eBay but my price is far less and you don't have to pay for shipping!
