For sale today I have a *Limited Edition 62/100 Close Encounters Studios Moon Landing Conspiracy Gray Zone Alien Figure and NASA Astronaut Statue Sculpture Signed by Famous Alien Artist and Cartoonist Roger L. Phillips*.
This item is BRAND NEW, OPEN BOX ITEM. It comes in original packaging. This piece is a LIMITED EDITION of only 100 pieces. This listing is for piece 62 out of 100. I purchased this piece directly from the artist Roger L. Phillips in Mahopac, NY.
The sculpture measures 8.5 inches tall and 9.5 inches wide and 9.5 inches deep. It weighs 3lbs and is made of resin. It features a NASA astronaut in a full space suit on the surface of the moon holding an American Flag. Behind the astronaut is a large rock with some foreign (or perhaps Alien) writing on it. Peeking behind the rock is one of Roger's beloved "grey" aliens with large black eyes.
The ground on the statue features both footprints from the Astronaut and the Alien. The base of the statue is signed "Roger L. Phillips 2013" and is hand numbered 62/100. There are four felt feet and the Close Encounters Studios Wordmark with 2010 production date.
Roger L. Phillips is a world-renowned alien cartoonist (he recently retired all his alien work to focus on making abstract sculptures in the Hudson Valley, NY). Roger is basically the Charles M. Schulz of Alien Cartoons. He founded his daily Alien Comic Strip "The Gray Zone" and he published a daily hand drawn Alien Cartoon for nearly 15 years. He has authored numerous Alien Cartoon books and he released a series of Alien Sculptures in 2010.
I believe he released three different sculptures each piece limited to only 100 pieces. The first piece was entitled "Crash Landing in Roswell, New Mexico". The second piece was often seen on the TV show the Big Bang Theory and was entitled "Encounter at Hangar 18." The third piece is what I have for sale here entitled "Moon Landing Conspiracy".
It all started in 1947, when Mr. Roger Phillips, as a young art student, was accidentally granted permission to enter the top secret facility near Roswell, New Mexico at Groom Lake or better known as Area 51.
For nearly 60 years, Mr. Phillips studied the extraterrestrial aliens being held at the base. He observed their behaviors, befriended them, learned from them and eventually understood them.
The Gray Zone is the result of that remarkable experience. It was born when Roger’s dad suggested he does cartoons based upon the “greys” that they both loved to read about. “It has been a lifelong dream to become a professional cartoonist and every strip takes me one step closer”.
Roger L. Phillips is ahead of his time and will go down in history as one of the world's most friendly and whimsical artists. His pieces will only increase in value, so not only will you own a story with this piece, but it is also an investment.
