This is a very early number, ENGRAVED FACE, Marantz 1030 integrated amp, with the very RARE preamp outputs. I have owned this for many years. Around 2012 I had Mike at Deltronics recap the unit and have been using it since then in my office with a pair of EPI 100's. It sounds wonderful, silky smooth. I think this amp has about 18 watts per channel into 8 ohms, so with a pair of reasonably efficient speakers it will fill a room with beautiful sound.
The preamp output is awesome. At home, I used this as a preamp for many years with great satisfaction. Very, very nice detailed warm phono stage. Also used the tape section for my cassette deck.
The case is not perfect, and I have no idea if it's original or not, though it appears to be pretty old. It has some battle scars in the top of the wood, but still really looks nice. Come to my office and listen. I use it everyday. All the controls are silent and smooth.
The engraved face is so cool. The photos tell the story. I also pulled to cover so you could see the recap job. I removed the shield cover on the phono board so you could see the recap, but of course put it back on after the photos were taken.
Marantz is a coveted name in hifi and these rare engraved face unit rarely come up for sale. When they do the premium is huge. This unit will only increase in value. I am looking to sell this for exactly what I have into it. Of course being a good 50 years old, there is no warranty.
