Ina Mae Tavern is looking for an experienced, dependable Sous Chef to join our leadership team. We are a busy, chef-driven New Orleans-inspired restaurant in the heart of Wicker Park known for scratch cooking, high standards, and genuine hospitality.
This is an opportunity to work alongside Chef Brian Jupiter and help lead one of Chicago's favorite neighborhood restaurants.
Responsibilities
Assist in leading daily kitchen operations
Supervise and mentor line cooks
Ensure consistent food quality and presentation
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
Assist with inventory, ordering, and food cost management
Help develop specials and seasonal menu items
Work the line during high-volume service
Foster a positive, professional kitchen culture
Qualifications
2+ years of Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager experience (or equivalent leadership experience)
Strong leadership and communication skills
High-volume restaurant experience preferred
Knowledge of food safety and kitchen organization
Passion for scratch cooking and attention to detail
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Reliable, organized, and calm under pressure
