Niels Koefoed is best known for his slender-framed highback dining chair designs for his company, Koefoeds Mobelfabrik (note: Koefoeds was located in Hornslet, Denmark. Since Hornslet was included in the brand logo, the company is often incorrectly called Koefoeds Hornslet these days). The Eva chair, designed in 1964, was one of Koefoed's most iconic and successful chairs. Highlighted by an organically curved backrest with tapering slats, the Eva creates quite a presence when arranged around a dining room table.
The laminated teak frames are in very good condition, with the usual marks and scratches that are to be expected in vintage furniture which has been actively used throughout its life. There are some small laminated splits on one chair, but those do not appear to affect the structural integrity of that frame. The wood has recently been cleaned and reconditioned.
The seats have previously been reupholstered in a multicolor weave wool fabric. That upholstery is in good condition, but these chairs could also be recovered fairly easily.
Dimensions are 19" wide by 16" deep by 38" tall, with a seat height of 17.25". These chairs would work well as a set on their own, or could be reupholstered to expand an existing set. The chairs are marked underneath with both the Koefoeds label as well as the Danish Furniture Control quality brand. The Dyrlund dining table in the last photo is not included in this listing, but is currently available in another listing.
$2400. Pick-up in person is preferable, but I can also deliver to a portion of the Chicagoland area for a nominal fee. In your reply, please include a phone number where you can be reached. Unfortunately, due to the high number of scammers on craigslist these days, I will not respond to anyone who does not include a phone number in their reply. Also, craigslist e-mails often get lost or blocked for various reasons, so if you've sent a legitimate e-mail and have not received a response, please try again. No scammers please. Thanks for reading.
