Northwestern's Department of Cell and Molecular Biology is currently conducting a research study to better understand differences between penile skin in circumcised and uncircumcised males.
The purpose of the study is to see how a male might get infected by HIV, and if it differs between circumcised and uncircumcised males. You will not be exposed to HIV at any point in time during this study.
The study includes one visit to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and will involve a questionnaire, skin readings and superficial skin biopsies. Should any concerns arise during this visit you may be asked by a physician to come back in for a free follow-up visit.
We are looking for participants who:
• Are a healthy male
• Are 21 and over
• Are uncircumcised OR
• Have been circumcised at least 6 months prior to your enrollment in this study
Study participants will be compensated for time and travel related to the study upon completion of the study.
