MEDICAL SCRIBE
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The duties/ job description of the scribes include and are not limited to:
1. The scribe's primary activity is to create the electronic health record from hand written
notes created by the students, residents, other attending and me in clinic.
2. The scribes assist the clinic registration, clerical and administration staff in the
paperwork required to operate the clinic.
3. The scribes provide orientation to the new students, educate the students and upgrade
their skills in documentation of the health care encounter.
4. The scribes will also help to upgrade the students skills in history and physical
examination, image interpretation, procedures ( cast removal and placement, injection
procedures, dry needling, wound care, suture removal and other procedure commonly
done in my Ortho clinics).
5. The scribes also mentor the students about medical students issues such as surviving
clinic rotations, choosing 4th year electives, examination and presentation preparation,
residency interview prep and applying for research and residency positions. The scribes
may also give advice on improving study habits.
6. The scribes may also provide advice about living in Chicago including housing,
transportation and off hour activities.
7. While in busy clinics the scribes may create the written medical record with me
performing the clinical evaluation.
8. Help to create electronic prescriptions, lab, imaging, electrodiagnostic testing orders.
9. Complete reservation forms for surgical procedures.
10. Create orders for ancillary services such as rehab referrals and orthotic orders.
11. Create referrals for other medical services to other health care providers.
12. Create documentation for school activity and work status notes.
MEDICAL SCRIBE
REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION:
IS HOURLY PAY $17.00 DOLLARS AND HOUR.
