Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Building General Maintenance Handyman to support the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of residential buildings on Chicago’s North Side. This role is hands-on and requires a broad skill set across general repairs, preventative maintenance, yard work, and seasonal responsibilities such as snow removal. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, responsive, and capable of working independently.
Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance & Repairs
Repair or replace fixtures, doors, locks, appliances, and hardware as needed
Inspect buildings regularly and report larger repair needs to management
Yard & Exterior Maintenance
Maintain exterior grounds, including mowing, trimming, edging, and general landscaping
Remove debris, leaves, and trash from yards, walkways, and common outdoor areas
Assist with minor exterior repairs and upkeep
Snow & Weather Response
Perform snow removal and ice control for sidewalks, entrances, and common areas
Be available during and after snow events as required
Assist with cold-weather preparations and emergency response (e.g., frozen pipes, leaks)
Building Support
Prepare apartments for turnover, including minor repairs, patching, painting, and cleaning coordination
Assist vendors and contractors as needed
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies
Maintain a clean and safe working environment
