Visual Storyteller (Producer/Writer/Editor) for 180K+ Sub YouTuber (Chicago)

compensation: $500/month internship with potential to a full-time salaried position
employment type: part-time
telecommuting okay

Hi - I’m Jason Silver, co-founder of Attract Great Guys.

We’re a fast-growing dating coaching startup that produces entertaining YouTube videos and transformational online video courses. Our courses teach behavioral psychology and social skills related to dating and attraction for ambitious women.

In less than two years, our YouTube channel has exploded to 180,000 subscribers and over 13 million views. We need a creative, open-minded video editor/producer/writer who can help us create the most entertaining dating advice YouTube videos in the world.

That’s where you come in.

Do you want to work with some of the best digital marketer and social media influencers?

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about our collective mission of helping 1,000,000 women find true love. You should be 100% dedicated to this mission, not treating this as a side project or something you’re just doing for money.

You should be an avid YouTube watcher who realizes the power of social media and how it's changing the business world and culture at large.

Also, you can’t be precious about your art. The work you’ll do MUST be for the purpose of bringing value to our audience and growing our business. (Aka. driving revenue while also adding value to the lives of our fans).

We create two types of videos:
YouTube Videos which inspire and entertain our audience AND
Paid educational video programs that teach social psychology related to dating and attraction.

An ideal candidate will be a visual storyteller, taking our scripts and videos and amplifying the emotions and entertainment to appeal to our audience through music, color, B-roll, edits, and any other tricks they might have up their sleeve.

Watch this short video to see examples of the types of creative editing we need your help to create:

Here are a couple examples of how we took a video of me talking about a TV show and a celebrity and added visual storytelling elements to amplify the emotions and excitement of the viewer:

When we approach projects, we do so full speed.

Our timelines are aggressive and quality standards high. If you’re the kind of person who typically is late on deadlines or waits until the last minute to get started, this isn’t going to be a good fit. While the hours for this position are flexible, we’re looking for someone who is excited about what we do. And who loves to do meaningful work.

You’ll have an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look into valuable areas like video production for YouTube, educational best practices, direct response copywriting and online marketing systems. If you’re a lifelong learner like us, you’ll view that as a massive perk.

Also, you must feel comfortable asking for forgiveness rather than permission. We want you to take initiative, and we do not want to micromanage you. I’m NOT looking for someone who is polite (at the cost of results), tells me what I want to hear, or takes things personally.

One last thing - the topic of our videos deals with evolutionary psychology and explores the messy reality of dating and attraction. We view attraction as a primal instinct which is amoral and if you have strong moral opinions on how women should date or interact with men, and are not willing to hear/discuss alternative viewpoints, then this job is not for you.

-This is not a beginner’s position. You must have at least 1 year of experience creating YouTube content or something very similar.
-You’ll handle video editing first and foremost. Sometimes, you’ll be asked to take point on things like optimizing our older YouTube videos, repurposing content for other channels (Instagram, Facebook) or handling other admin tasks related to the business.
-We are all wearing multiple hats and the nature of the business requires us to pivot quickly if necessary. If you can not handle fast changes, this position is not for you.
-This is a part-time role, starting between 40-80 hours per month. If we work well together, this will lead to a full-time paid position.
-This role is remote, so you can work anywhere in the United States as long as you can communicate via email, chat, and phone.
-You should have a computer that is capable of video editing and we can provide the software and marketing collateral for you to edit.

Examples of Possible Tasks and Responsibilities:
-Review script with team and plan out edits (motion graphics, callouts, broll, etc..)
-Reporting on YouTube analytics
-Writing descriptions for old YouTube videos
-Creating thumbnail split tests
-Audio and color correction on videos
-Occasional on-site filming assistance (camera shooter, production assistant, etc..)
-Brainstorming new video ideas
-Researching topics for content
-Creating new systems to create our workflow efficiency

Skills Needed:
-Adobe Premier (Intermediate)
-Adobe After Effects (Basic)

If you are excited about hard work and creating cool things together, here’s just a few benefits you’ll receive by working with us:
-Make a real difference in women’s lives
-Access to unique experiences (Special YouTuber events, traveling with the team)
-Work with a FUN team that is passionate about being the BEST at what we do
-Work directly with top online marketer with proven success growing businesses
-Work directly with top dating coach and love industry expert
-Work with other A-Players (we only hire the best and currently have a best selling author and ivy league psychologist in our Slack channels)
-Access to film equipment, a video studio and 2112 coworking space in Chicago

If I haven’t scared you away yet, please reply to this email with your resume, a cover letter on why you’d be a good fit and links to some examples of your work.
