This piano is available for in-person evaluation by serious buyers. Serious inquiries only.
The Steinway Model L is 5'10.5" long, putting it in a really nice mid-point between a baby grand and a grand piano. It is small enough for most city apartments but long enough to have bass notes which are actually clear and pronounced.
Built in Astoria, Queens, NY in 1925. I am the second owner and have had the piano for almost 7 years in my private recording studio in Bridgeport, Chicago. It was moderately overhauled about halfway through its life according to the original owner, likely by Perfection Piano Co. in Downers Grove, who stamped their logo on the iron. So we're not talking about 100-year old felts, hammers, etc. which need replacement. It is also stamped "EBONIZED" just above the serial number.
While it has seen service, care, and seasonal tunings, it is NOT a "fully-restored" piano at this point and is priced accordingly. These are $60,000+ instruments after full restoration.
The lid in particular has some finish issues, with some of the top coat eaten away by alcohol. This unfortunately (very unfortunately) happened after I purchased it but before I was able to actually move it into my place. It is certainly a candidate for having a full refinish on the lid if cosmetics are of high importance to you. Wasn't ever an issue over here other than me being mildly annoyed by it every time I was reminded of it. Similarly, the leather on bench has some rips.
I am happy to oversee the fully-insured moving of this piano from my studio (with freight elevator) to wherever you need it to go. Freight costs are to be worked out as part of primary negotiation.
Please ask any and all questions up front. I am more than happy to answer them.
