Hello everyone! Bringing to the light of public one very interesting vintage instrument.
The Japanese 339’s hollow-body, guitar is completely hollow inside, except for a small chunk in the bridge area. It sounds incredibly loud, I had a full-body Gretsch before - a classic arch top model and I can say - this Greco is louder. Put flat-wound strings and you get a sound cannon.
Original furniture and MAXON U1000 pickups. I am not sure these Maxons are suitable for this guitar, rather for something alder, because they are damn loud and heat up the instrument to madness! Super light weight - 5.1lbs
The dying frets were dressed and polished, observing the original radius. I had to deepen the saddles on the bridge almost to the end in order to achieve the most comfortable position for playing high notes and reduce the action.
After these procedures, the instrument is excellent playable, no investment needed. The strings are low and easy to play, no rustle on pots or switch.
It sounds unusual, loud, you don’t want to fall this guitar from hands, that's all I had to write at the beginning. Thanks!
