Great vintage cab here with the legendary Celestion G12-80 speakers. All original January 1980 date stamps, "T Number" T2876 , 444 cone stamp, 55Hz with Marshall label - all original with no issues whatsoever. These G12-80 are renowned for their big tight lows, aggressive mid-range, and a smooth top-end that is ideal for lead guitar playing, offering punch and clarity with high headroom for distorted tones and clean sounds alike.
This cab is a beast - heavy duty speakers with the larger magnets bring the loud and huge to the yard. Big bass, reliable punchy mids (not scooped), and tempered treble - no ice pick, no sizzle. This might be the best stoner Marshall cab ever, but not limited to doing just the heavy stuff. If you're looking for the vintage tone but worried about blowing greenbacks then you're in the right place. 320 watts here, so throw your heaviest into it and it's doubtful it'll flinch.
Matching quad of original Marshall-labeled (<--even more rare still) Celestion "T2876" G12-80's - bone stock and no issues, with "444" bass cone stamps. They sound perfect after all these years, not surprisingly -- that's one of the great things about higher-powered speakers. These are killer for guitar - fat, full, loud, and punchy. These are supposedly the "Appetite Slash speakers"... cool, cool.
Cosmetically this cab has seen some stages, with the requisite dings and scrapes of a 45 year-old cabinet, and we see the original "small check" grill has been painted, as so many of this era -- overall pretty respectable grill with no major holes but some minor fraying. There's some dinged and missing tolex here and there but not terrible -- please see photos for the details. The side handles are nice and tight with no major cracks, the casters work and roll perfectly, which is nice. There are two extra small holes in the rear panel where someone in the past decided to run stereo at some point - again pretty common. Now wired back to mono with a newer jack and metal jack plate.
Overall a nice cosmetically "player-grade" vintage cab with killer original speakers ready for stages for the next 40+ years. These speakers alone on are worth the asking price on the vintage Celestion market.
