Roland Chorus Echo SRE-555 Pro Version of Classic Tape Delay - $1400 (Logan Square)

I worked in a music store in Canada when these first came out in the late 70s. At that time the Roland Chorus Echo units in the wooden cases were all the rage – because they were awesome! The SRE-555 was the professional version of the RE-301. The SRE-555 is a rack mounted version that has balanced as well as unbalanced inputs and outputs. It’s built like a tank. I’ve been using this unit in my studio for everything from full-on dub mixes to super long delays on instruments to slapback on vocals. It’s an instant mojo machine!

Mechanically, everything works. I replaced the reverb tank about five years back with an exact replacement (original tank just quit working) and I replaced the felts and pinch roller with. It has a 1 meter tape in in that has about 20 hours on it. I also have an extra new replacement tape. It has a tray so that the unit may be rolled-out without un-racking it to allow tapes and heads to be easily serviced. Cosmetically, it has scuffs and chips that do not affect functionality.

I have used this on numerous recordings and have been very happy with the performance. I can’t say that it works exactly like a new unit would - I don't have one to compare it. Being a vintage unit, it is sold “as-is”. I’ve taken that into account in the pricing. Please ask any questions before committing to buy.

This weights about 16 kgs (about 35 lbs), so it’ll be expensive to ship when properly packaged. I’d prefer to sell it locally. Please provide a phone number I can text for fastest response.
