THESE WERE MADE FOR ONE YEAR ONLY, AND ARE BECOMING HARDER
AND HARDER TO FIND, ESPECIALLY IN THIS KIND OF CONDITION!!!
What I have for you here is a gorgeous example of the craftsmanship one can expect from an instrument made at the Matsumoko factory in March of 1980!
The Vantage 790 (also sometimes referred to as a Vantage Performer / VP 790) has a beautiful dark brown/walnut stain. The 790 itself carries no model or serial numbers, but is easy to recognize, as it's the only Vantage model made of mahogany with a set neck. In addition, the Vantage VP-790 was produced for one year only, 1980.
The guitar features:
- two MF-790 custom engineered humbucker pickups,
- 2 volume controls and 1 tone control,
all three made of non-slip black plastic speed knobs.
- 1 three-position pickup selector switch,
- 1 coil tap switch,
- 1 switch for phase switching operations.
The guitar has a brass nut and brass saddles in an ABR-1 style bridge, and the tuners are chrome-plated die-cast. Its 22-fret neck is set-in with a low-profile heel, which allows for a long sustain and exceptional intonation and string balance. There is ONE spot with wear, which you can see highlighted in the second picture, but other than THAT, the entire guitar looks as though it’s been played less than 20 hours! Comes with a non-Vantage branded case.I'm located in Chicago, Il., and cross-streets for local pickup are Nelson and Racine. I will ship in the continental U.S. but buyer pays S/H.
