Here is the context. The issue I have going is with the old Swedish articles needing translating which goes back to the talk I gave in 2010. I now want to enhance the work and do something more with it.

In the mid 1990s, I gave a talk at the Illinois History Symposium about the legislative initiatives of Chicago's Socialist aldermen from 1878-1885. They held the balance of power and sponsored measure such as the 8 hour work day, child labor laws, factory inspection ordinances, food and drugs laws, and so on.

In 2009 and 2010, as an outgrowth of that talk, I continued the research. Frank Stauber, the primary alderman of this group, had his reelection stolen in April 1880 and the case reached the Illinois Supreme Court. I found the original court files at the trial level and the original City Council documents, as well as the Illinois Supreme Court briefs. Supplementing these sources were the secondary sources of books and newspapers. I gave another talk in March 2010 on this stolen election. I find it an incredible story. I now want to enhance the work and do something more with it.

One of the weaknesses of my talk was that my newspaper coverage was not balanced in that I only quoted the mainstream newspapers of the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Inter Ocean. I have collected and have had translated about 600 articles from the German and Czech press from April 1880 to March 1881 which I will now integrate into my existing work.

But I have also identified and downloaded a number of articles relating to Stauber from the Swedish press in Chicago which have been digitized by the Swedish National Library. My remaining articles for translation are 12 articles from Svenska Amerikanaren.

Some are short reports and some longer articles. They are written in what I would call old Swedish. It seems that native Swedish speakers or highly educated Swedish speakers are the best ones who can read it. I have 12 articles, so I am asking different people to help me as I go along. Any help, small or large, is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
