We write detailed, solution-oriented blog posts to attract customers for businesses that sell to other businesses, as opposed to individual consumers. We're looking to hire a content strategist editor with at least two years of experience who is excited by what science, engineering and finance clients do for a living, finds it fascinating to look at the performance reports for each post and map out where to go from here, and has the social skills to direct and manage the writers.
This is a full-time, W2 position, Monday to Friday, 7:30 to 3:30 Pacific. It is 100% telecommute. Pay is negotiable and competitive, with 401K and 3 weeks of PTO/sick time, company holidays and daily hour-long lunch breaks. We have a close, family-like environment and a retreat each year in Washington or Oregon, and continuous opportunities to learn new skills and achieve upwardly-mobile opportunities. To apply, please see below. Thank you!
THE FULL DESCRIPTION
Strategy-focused editing for our marketing company, which specializes in bringing technical subject matter to life with on-point stories and examples, original ideas and clear, simple writing, is among the most interesting, exciting and challenging positions that our company offers. It's one of the few positions that offers immediate feedback in terms of seeing how your ideas perform on Google and on the clients' social media, and how many leads they generate. If you have a good imagination and an analytical personality, this could be your dream job right here.
The strategic editing position involves thoroughly researching client firms to understand their industry and their niche, as well as interviewing executives and subject matter to ask questions that you cannot find answers to online, and to discuss strategy. You'd brainstorm with the client's team, but more importantly, with the writer, and then guide him/her, revising and revising until there are no generalities left and each piece is a shining work of art for the client, with relevant, illustrative stories, examples and analysis that will engage the client's readers and make their phone ring. Writing titles alone for blogs and emails is an art form because nobody will read the finest piece unless they are enticed by the title.
So there is a lot of emotional IQ involved since you need to understand the point of view of the readers of each piece, but just as much, of your writers to that they stay inspired to deliver amazing work for you day in and day out. It's a lot easier to inspire your writers than it is to send pieces back 10 times. So a mix of critical feedback and encouragement on each piece is essential.
We work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You should have strong prioritizing, organizing and time management skills. You'll be responsible for finalizing 10 to 15 posts per week.
To apply, please send a resume and original cover letter written for this job posting that describes your professional editing experience and how it applies to this job. Examples are always very much appreciated. Thank you and have a fantastic day!
