The Skokie Park District's Tot Learning Center has an immediate opening for a year-round, part-time teacher. The Tot Learning Center is a DCFS licensed, NAEYC accredited childcare program that provides full-day, year-round childcare for infants and children aged six weeks to 5 years of age.

Pay: $12 - $16/hour to start, depending on qualifications and educational degree

Qualifications: Must be an adult, at least 18 years of age. Prefer at least 1 year experience as a childcare worker at a DCFS licensed facility. Childcare experience at a NAEYC accredited facility is preferred but not required. The applicant we prefer will have at least 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with at least six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to childcare and/or child development from birth to age six. Prefer an individual that has an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field. Will consider recent college graduates. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment physical and drug test. The individual we seek must possess excellent leadership, organizational, presentation and communication skills.

Duties: The part-time teacher works cooperatively with staff in the planning and implementation of age appropriate activities promoting the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of the children enrolled in the program. Provides a classroom setting that is nurturing, safe, neat, organized, flexible and responsive to the needs/demands of the children and their families. Assists the Lead Teacher with the day-to-day management of the classroom. Assists with maintaining necessary records and reports and with lesson plans that are age appropriate. Duties include preparation of newsletters and participation with the parent-teacher conference process. Participates in staff meetings, staff trainings and program related activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Hours: Monday through Friday, a variety of daytime shifts available between the hours of 8 AM and 6 PM.
