So this is a poster I wrote and produced 34 years ago when I was an advertising copywriter in Cleveland, Ohio.
I wrote the poster to promote the city’s advertising awards show. Once I had the idea, I obviously needed some celebrity record albums (albums that probably never should have been made, which is of course the joke here).
On a complete lark, we contacted Late Night With David Letterman, as the show had done sketches using albums like these for a segment they called Dave’s Record Collection.
Dave’s head writer Steve O’Donnell really liked my poster idea, and made the offer to just send us (for free) a big box of the record albums they had used on TV. Not kidding. We received the box a few days later and scheduled the photo shoot, and the rest is history (the poster later ended up winning several advertising awards for creativity).
We sent these posters out to all the people in the ad community, and they were likely tossed by nearly everyone. I kept 3 copies that were never distributed, and they’ve remained in PRISTINE condition (rolled) and are still brand-new, even after all these years.
DIMENSIONS: 28” W x 24” H
As the writer/producer of this poster, I would be happy to sign your poster (if you wish).
