We bought this fabulous metal table at a Nashville, Tennessee, vintage store, and don’t know its provenance, although it appears to be a one-of-a-kind item. What we do know is that it’s a very sharp and solid piece of furniture, with great lines and a modernist quality that makes it an exciting focal point for a living room or den.
The material is a soft, gray metal with a slightly luminous quality. It’s heavy and looks like stainless steel, but it’s not magnetic, so we think it’s austenitic stainless steel from the 300 series, which contains nickel and chromium that alter the crystal structure of the alloy.
The ends appear to be solid metal; the top is metal over wood composite, as shown in the photo shot from underneath. Measurements are 48” long x 24” wide x 21.5” tall.
This is a very cool table, and we encourage you to buy it now. Pick up at our home n NE Evanston. Thanks!
