Basic Job Description
The ideal candidate for this position has Adobe Photoshop, Bridge and Lightroom experience and a sophisticated eye for color. We are a boutique photo studio. Our clientele are North Shore families, businesses and corporations.

North Shore child and family portrait studio is seeking talented, fast-working and detail-oriented Photo Retoucher / Assistant.

Retouching images in specific detail. A typical day involves quick corrections in Adobe Camera Raw of hundreds of images to be uploaded to client online galleries.

Working client print orders. Most images require basic color correction, blemish clean up. Some images for print need more extensive retouching; including head swaps, liquify, background creation, etc.

Primary Responsibilities
- Crop and size images for photo lab
- Participate and oversee the entire process from image capture to download
- Responsible for all print / digital / product orders, executing
- Uploading images to the lab
- Packing / shipping completed orders
- Assist in daily photo studio duties. Assist photographer as needed pre and post production
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Special web related projects as needed
- Prioritize, set and meet deadlines
- Maintain a tidy and organized retouching and studio space
- Keep track, follow though of all tasks and communications
- Produce the highest-quality images possible
- Maintain consistency in folder structure, file naming, etc
- Calibrate displays weekly and maintain consist color balance of displays
- Open to feedback and flexible to daily changes

- Ability to work quickly and efficiently and independently under tight deadlines
- Answer incoming calls and promptly return messages via email or phone

Adobe Photoshop CS for Mac
- Expertise in Adobe Photoshop CS5 for Mac & Adobe Bridge
- Strong knowledge of RAW file format & Adobe Camera Raw
- Masks, creating actions, paths & background removal, shortcuts
- Adjustment layers/masks, paths, curves
- Launch automations/actions (scripts, cropping, blow out white background)
- Identify image clean-up limits & issues
- Adaptability to new tools and process
- Retouch, enhance, color balance and upload images
- Photoshop skills required: color changes, headswaps

Daily Basics
- Download Compact Flash & XQD cards, rename & meta data to all RAW files
- Assist Mac Tech in basic backup procedures
- Meet file deadlines
- Maintain a high level of production
- Prep files for ordering sessions
- Prep files in Adobe Camera Raw for online galleries
- Work client orders for print, web, cards
- Upload images to lab via FTP
- Make online galleries for clients
- Client communications via email and phone
- Work closely with our remote Mac Tech via chat/messenger assisting in basic tech
- Answer phone calls
- Meet and manage print/image deadlines
- Light cleaning (trash, bathrooms, vacuum, etc)
- Maintain proper file naming, metadata and image protocol for upload and archiving
- Maintain and follow server image asset organization/proper file naming
- Set up studio for photo shoot
- Review prints from the lab for quality
- Sort, pack and ship outgoing orders
- Research and implement new techniques and skills

Studio Photography Knowledge [Not required]
- Working knowledge of basic portrait studio lighting
- Calumet / Bowens Gemini Pro Lights, Pocket Wizards, Nikon Cameras/Lenses
- Prep gear for photo sessions [studio and location]
- Set up/clean up for studio photo session
- Understand lighting basics, anticipate and resolve potential issues
- Occasional photo assistant

Mac Technical Skills
- Follow direction from Mac Tech - Studio has network of 8-10 Macs, hard drives, backups, network etc
