Job Summary
The Assistant Maintenance Engineer supports the operation, repair, and maintenance of all club facilities and equipment. This includes central heating and cooling plants, HVAC systems, electrical and water infrastructure, fire and life safety systems, refrigeration and food service equipment, and backup power systems. The role focuses on both preventive maintenance and responsive troubleshooting to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-functioning environment for members and staff.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on boilers, pumps, chillers, refrigeration units, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
• Maintain accurate records, logs, and meter readings for all systems.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and compliant work environment; report unsafe conditions.
• Install, modify, or repair wiring and assist with electrical maintenance as needed.
• Assist outside contractors with inspections and testing of fire and life safety systems.
• Communicate regularly with the Chief Engineer; maintain project lists and timelines.
• Collaborate with fellow maintenance staff and external technical support.
• Perform duties of the Chief Engineer in their absence.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent (trade school or college coursework preferred).
• 3–5 years of maintenance experience in hospitality or a related field.
• Certificates in HVAC-R, electrical, plumbing, or refrigerant handling preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools, gauges, and measuring devices.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office preferred).
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
• Ability to exert up to 70 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing ladders/stairs.
• Exposure to varying conditions, including extreme heat/cold, noise, dust, humidity, and heights.
• May encounter moving machinery, electrical systems, wildlife, and traffic.
• Requires normal vision, color/depth perception, and ability to hear/speak clearly.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screening.

Schedule
• Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
• Flexibility required for rotating shifts, on-call duties, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet business demands.
