Edward A. Anderson was born in Elgin, Illinois in 1923. He graduated from Illinois State Normal University in 1948 and received an M.F.A. from Ohio State University in 1950. Mr. Anderson has received many awards, including the County Award, Silvermine Guild of Artists, The William Church Osborn Purchase Prize at the Butler Art Institute, First Prize for Drawing, Washington Watercolor Club, and the Watercolor Purchase Prize at the 1957 Portland Summer Art Festival. His work in included in the permanent collections at the Springfield Museum of Art, Springfield, Missouri, the Butler Institute of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Portland Museum of Art, Portland, Maine and in numerous private collections.
