Leo Birkmann (1911-1983) was a famous German post-impressionist.
At some point of his art career, he re-painted in a post-impressionist style a famous realistic painting of Franz von Defregger (1(contact info removed)) “Children scene” (1900).
Then, in 1982, another re-painting appeared - a mirror image of art work of Leo Birkmann.
So, this painting is a very interesting piece of art, rare and intriguing.
