Original Janet W. Kimberling Painting "LaSalle Street, Chicago" Federal Reserve
Own a one-of-a-kind mid-century Chicago cityscape by Janet W. Kimberling (1925–2022). JANET W. KIMBERLING
An honor graduate of Syracuse University with a BFA in Illustration, Janet Kimberling began painting full time in 1967, after 12 years as an architectural illustrator in Chicago. She first exhibited in Rockefeller Center, New York City, at age of eleven. A “Romantic Realist” influenced by Innes and Bierstadt, she prepares her own paints and canvas in the manner of the Old Masters. She prefers painting outdoors, completing larger works in the studio from her color studies, pencil sketches, and imagination. Janet believes a painting should have a mood, an emotional or spiritual quality, rather than be a mere representation of things as they are.
Selected Santa Fe’s Poster Artist of the Year in 1981, she is included in the reference book Contemporary Western Artists, by Samuels.
Collections: Syracuse University Museum, American College of Surgeons, H.R.H. Princess Anne of Great Britain, First National Bank of Chicago, Illinois Bell Telephone Co. Also numerous juried exhibitions and awards.
