I am selling my 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder with a 5-speed manual and clean title in hand.
I purchased this car in 2019 with the goal of turning it into a track car. However, life happens, priorities change, and sadly I have to let it go. This car is a joy to drive and there really is no other car that combines Toyota reliability with a mid-engine rear-wheel-drive layout in this price range.
During my 2-year ownership, I have only put on ~1500 miles as it is my 3rd car. The rest of the time it has been garage-kept. I was very meticulous about maintenance so I am confident in saying this car is mechanically sound, completely reliable, and as such I would not hesitate to take this car on a road trip anywhere. Below is a list of recent maintenance I took care of during my ownership (@124k miles).
All fluids changed: engine oil, oil filter, transmission oil/diff fluid, coolant, power-steering fluid, brake/clutch fluids
Electrical tune-up: new battery, new alternator, new belt tensioner + belt, new spark plugs
Mechanical tune-up: new fuel filter, new valve cover gasket, all four brake pads and rotors, new rear calipers, new PCV valve and vacuum hoses
Heathy engine (165-175 psi across all 4 cylinders)
No Check Engine Lights (or any malfunction indicator lights for that matter)
Newer tires (date code 2018 with plenty of tread)
New brakes and rotors
OEM-style rear spoiler
Rough exterior (paint chipping/fading, dings on some body panels, holes in soft top (patched with no leaking))
AC not working
Parking brake does not work (I park the car in gear)
Steering wheel off-center (alignment will fix that)
