I’ve owned this Golf R since 2017, purchasing it with 19k miles from Crystal Lake Volkswagen (Crystal Lake, Illinois). It’s been a mostly reliable car and currently sits just under 78,000 miles. It likely won’t go up much from here.
The Need-to-Know:
Accident in Dec 2024: Slid on black ice and grazed a guardrail. Only cosmetic damage — passenger side doors and fender were professionally repaired and repainted by A&E Auto Body (Lake in the Hills, Illinois). All OEM parts used. Minor accident with the first owner, which shows on the Carfax. This wasn't disclosed to me via the dealer.
Outside of those two notes — and needing a detail — the car is very clean. Built primarily by Autowerks Performance (Morris, Illinois), with general maintenance by RAM Auto (Lake in the Hills, Illinois), the car ran a best of 10.4 @ 135mph on E85 in 2024. A 9-second pass is absolutely within reach with the right conditions.
