I bought this beauty to turn it into a welding rig. Plans changed and it's time to let it go.
All in all, it's in good shape for a 25 year old truck with 400K. The 7.3 powerstroke diesel engine is just about broken in. It starts and runs, and drives. The original owner was JCB, who took good care of the engine and drivetrain. Amazingly, the factory speakers are in good shape. For a truck like this with speakers that aren't blown out, you may as well buy a lottery ticket with that kind of luck.
I've done a lot of work to it:
-New (reman) transmission, less than 1,000 miles ago
-New fuel tank (fixed the galvanized fuel tank / clogged pickup issue)
-Full rear end brake job
-Nickel copper rear brake lines
-Full rear end service (Dana-80 axle)
-Driveshaft carrier bearing
-Harmonic balancer
-LPOP oil seals
-Camshaft position sensor
-New windshield
-Repaired the vinyl seat
-New injector in cylinder #8
-New turbo boots
It's a 25 year old service truck. There's still some issues to be fixed. I will be 100% honest and list every issue I am aware of:
-The service bed and crane are rotten. I will torch it off and leave you with a clean slate at no expense.
-The frame is in good shape, the cab is starting to show it's age. The mirrors are rusting off and the cab corners are starting to go. All in all, still good for a 25 year old service truck.
-The GEM needs to be replaced. This limits the HVAC controls to full blast only and the AC does not work. This is also the parasitic voltage draw that will drain the battery if left unattended for a month.
-One of the two brake lights works
-Reverse lights do not work (Two new replacement lights from Northern Tool included).
-Minor oil leak from the HPOP
-THE DMV GAVE ME THE WRONG PLATES. It has B plates on a class L truck.
