The subwoofer works however I feel it is performing below its listed specifications.
See below:
It is definitely not running at full power. It sounds diminished, muffled. But if I adjust the volume knob it sometimes jumps magnitudes of power. From the muffled state to "working normally"
Sometimes I can adjust the knob back and forth a few times in quickly and then the knob seems to work like it used to.
Also I noticed that if I slightly push up / down on the knob, it makes a stronger connection and the subwoofer performs at full power.
I think this indicates that there are likely connection issues internally with the amp, such as the potentiometer is failing.
So to enjoy this piece to its full potential, the amp needs to get repaired or replaced.
The serial number is gone. It looks like it partially fell off years ago at some point.
There are watermarks on the amp faceplate but none on the box.
I bought this subwoofer from Marantz America as a B-stock piece when they were located here in Itasca, IL.
Marks on the aluminum faceplate and none on the wood box was typical of B-stock merchandise.
Enclosure is in very good shape, I would rate it as excellent.
The grille is also in excellent shape, no broken tabs as seen in the pics.
All 4 feet are securely attached.
