The Role
We're looking for a reliable technical production assistant to manage equipment setup, lighting, and audio troubleshooting at wedding events. You'll work alongside our DJ to ensure flawless technical execution while we focus on keeping the dance floor packed.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate equipment setup with our rental company technicians
- Manage lighting operation and cues throughout the event (grand entrance, first dance, cake cutting, etc.)
- Handle minor setup tasks and adjustments as needed during the event
- Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and professionally during events
- Monitor all equipment throughout the event to ensure everything runs smoothly
- Coordinate with venue staff and other vendors as needed
- Events typically run 8-12 hours, mostly on weekends
Requirements
- Weekend availability - Most events are Friday-Sunday
- Reliable transportation - Must be able to get to venues across the Chicago area
- Professional appearance and demeanor - You're representing our company at high-end events
- Ability to handle light physical tasks - Some minor equipment adjustments and being on your feet for extended periods
- Problem-solver mentality - Things happen at live events; we need someone calm under pressure
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience with audio/lighting equipment - You should understand how mixers, speakers, and DMX lighting controllers work and be able to troubleshoot basic issues
- Familiarity with South Asian wedding traditions and music
- Experience working weddings or large events
- Knowledge of specific equipment brands (can discuss during interview)
Compensation
$200-250 per event, depending on experience

Schedule
- Starting May 2026
- 15+ weddings and 50+ events booked for 2026, with more being added
- Flexible - you tell us your availability, we book you for events you can do
