There is a small cut in rubber or vinyl casing that hold the wire but wire isn’t broken.
I put red electrical tape around cord as a safety precaution and reminder to get it fixed.
This is a very sweet lamp to leave on as a night lamp while you are out or for a bedroom. I’ve used a low watt bulb. You can even use a rechargeable bulb or smart bulb.
