Beekeeper needs ONE helper several hours once a month to help maintain (Elgin)

RT25 (N. Liberty ST) near RT19 (E. Chicago ST)
compensation: Part-time $20/hr
I have been raising bees and honey for 15 years. I have around 10 hives on my property. I am looking for someone to assist me in managing the bee hives and extracting honey. This has been my hobby for 15 years and can be yours too. Most of the work is on the weekends so this can be an additional, side, or after school job.

Anyone interested in beekeeping? This would be a good learning position for someone that has an interest in beekeeping or having bee hives in the future. This position will provide some good hands-on training for a student majoring in biology, entomology, or insects. You will learn how to handle bees, hives, extract honey, and maintain bees. This could also be a good job for a student. Plus make a little side money too.

Requirements:
1. You will need to be capable of lifting up to 60 pounds.
2. Must be tolerant of hot weather and high temperatures.
3. Must be comfortable around friendly and occasionally grouchy stinging insects.
4. No major allergy to bee venom, dust, or mold.
5. Experience is desired but not required. No special training or experience is required.
6. I would prefer someone that lives locally. Someone living on the East side of Elgin, IL would be ideal. They would be closest to me with minimum travel time.
7. Some grasp of the English language would be beneficial as the work is in Elgin, IL not Mexico.
8. I require approximately 4 hours of work from 10AM to 2PM once a month in Spring, Summer, and Fall. Weekends are fine. Exact dates and times are flexible. We are very dependent on the weather. Currently, hive checks are on the last weekend of the month.
9. I will also require about 24+ hours (3ea 8-hour days) in August for honey extraction. This does not involve bees but requires hot weather. This is a hot and sticky job.
10. There is no employment contract. If you decide you do not like the work, just notify me that you will be moving on.

I will provide:
1. Training for all work being done. I will be working with you. Four hands make the job easier.
2. Full protective gear and gloves.
3. All required equipment and tools.
4. An hourly rate of $20/hr paid by check monthly with no deductions taken or additional benefits.
5. This position is for a contract worker. You will be a self-employed, part-time, temporary, helper.
6. Total expected salary for the full year is approximately $992. This may generate a 1099-NEC.
7. Some additional garden vegetables and fruit in season.
8. Some really good honey.
9. Guidance on starting your own hives if you are interested.

If you are interested in some extra money and a very interesting hobby, please contact me.
