Hiwatt Lead 20 Combo Amp - 1x10 - Master Volume
In Excellent Condition +++ - Especially for a 40 year old amp.
Impressive JCM-800 tones with a slightly more focused midrange
VERY loud for 20 watts and great harmonic over tones
The information available on this series is very limited fragmented, even more so on the 20 Combo. These were produced in roughly 1983 - 1984 by Sterling Imports in Modesto California.
A fully functional and clean example of the elusive and rare Hiwatt Lead 20 1x10" combo! This thing nails low-watt Marshall-esque tones with tons of mid-range bark and attack producing quintessential EL84 tones with powerful and versatile EQ with controls for Presence, Treble, Mid, and Bass with separate pre-amp and Master volume controls for everything from sparkly cleans to full-blown Hiwatt gain! This example has a few replaced resistors and caps so it is fully dialed and ready to rock. If you are looking for a cool studio tool or for a little combo that packs a punch with gain at lower volumes then look no further... this thing sounds great!
This is one of the most unusual Hiwatt amps we've ever come across and many will be surprised to look at one that was made in the USA. Model CS-20-110, operating on fresh EL84 and 12ax7 tubes. Since there is hardly any information on these to be found anywhere, we have to comment on the sound: it simply sounds great. Imagine the best of a Hiwatt combined with a Vox AC15 and the master volume control of a vintage Marshall JMP or JCM800.
