Front shock absorber only, so it's a good bike for both on and medium off-road use. While on the pavement or concrete, bikes with both front and back suspension eat up more of the rider's energy as both shocks absorb some of the pedaling power.... not so with a hard tail. Without suspension in the rear, you get more power to the pavement, with a bit rougher ride, however the seat has more padding than most mountain bikes ( a plus for those not very serious... like racers).
Looks: With "Shimano" plastered everywhere; "Suntour" on the forks; and "Kenda" on the tires, you know you've got good solid parts with respectable names. Nobody will make fun of you with these names on the bike, but maybe they will call you light in the shoes if you keep the kickstand on.... none of my business.
The fat 24-inch by 2.10-inch tires look like they can support a lot of weight, while gripping dirt, grass and roots very well with deep treads. Although this comes with a kickstand, it is removable for those who want to save weight, and not look like you just shopped at Target Stores. And if you really want to look normal, you can remove the reflectors, but this is not recommended by the seller due to drivers getting more absent - minded by the month. If riding in residential or business neighborhoods, gotta reflect light back into the zombie's eyes... to get their attention. For off-road use, removing unnecessary weight is a plus.
SECURITY / PORTABILITY FEATURES:
Black is easy to hide, and doesn't draw attention. Both the seat post and the front wheel can be removed quickly with quick-release (no - tools) built-in wrenches. This increases portability because it makes the bicycle much smaller within 1 minute. Also, it decreases the chance of theft. Lock up the bike and take the front wheel and the seat with you into a store .... who wants a bike with 1 wheel and no seat? Leave the kickstand and reflectors on for extra cheap- looks, and you just have a hunk of metal nobody wants...but with the aggressive performance you expect from Schwinn ... after you come out of the store, school, work, or off the commuter train, or bus.
This would be a great delivery bike or commuter bike for someone who prioritizes a compact, small mode of transportation WITH anti-theft advantages. ...like those that live in an apartment in Bridgeview, Country Club Hills, Crestwood, Blue Island, Frankfort, Glenwood, Harvey, Hazel Crest, East, Hodgekins, Homewood, Lansing, Markham, Oak Forest, Orland Park, Phoenix, South Holland, Thornton, or Tinley Park, Chicago Ridge... but not Robbins. If you live in Robbins, don't buy this bike please. ...ok. .. I'll allow it this once.

CONDITION:
Riding the bike is immediately impressive as far as bikes go. It has aggressive looks combined with a very comfortable ride.
Both wheels turn pretty true, and the tires are in excellent shape with little wear. Both front and rear brakes work as expected with little rubbing in rear. Front and rear derailers go through all gears. The grips are very...missing, so they're gone ... but on the other hand, are not necessary to proper mechanical operation of the bicycle. The hand-turn style shifters keeps your hands on the handlbars at all times, increasing safety and arguably...performance. There is some surface rust on the chain, and the brake/ shifter cable sheaths, but this will not affect the mechanical operation of the bike.
RIDING/OPERATION:
The bike can be pedaled smoothly without pedals bent. Both front and rear derailers shift through all gears. There are 21 speeds, so there is always a gear for the terrain and angle on which you are riding. The seat designed to be lightweight, but if it's comfort you want, seats are very easily replaced...and widely available even at Walmart or Meijer. Front shocks work at smoothing out small and large bumps, making the ride more comfortable than any bike without shock absorbers. The aluminum frame and fork subtract enough weight to make this bike very easy to handle, and easier to lift in and out of a vehicle.
There are no loose/ missing parts, so you can use the bike with no work or extra purchasing.
This is a great alternative to buying a new Hufy or a Muray, either of which probably won't outlast this used Schwin.
