For sale is a coin you don't see very often--an 1858 Flying Eagle Cent. The Flying Eagle Cent is a very unique and rare coin, so rare in fact that most people never even heard of it. That is because they only made the Flying Eagle cent for three years: 1856 to 1858. In 1856 they only made 2,000 coins so most people don't even consider that an issue year. So really 1857 & 1858 were it, and between those two years only 42 million coins were minted. That is why this coin is so rare. In 1858 they made two different varieties: the "large letters" and "small letters" varieties. This coin in the "large letters" varieties.
As you can see from the pics the coin is in nice condition, and it would come in at a G grade. The date and all lettering on the coin, and lots of the eagle's tiny feather lines are present, which is a big thing because this is one of the first areas that wear down on these coins. The coin has no major blemishes or damage.
This is a great coin for anyone who appreciates rare early US coins. Please email me with questions or interest. Thanks!
