For sale is a very nice 1909 Indian Head Cent. The Indian Head Cent ran from 1859 to 1909 before being replaced by the Lincoln Wheat Cent. It changed size, weight, and metal composition a couple times making it a very interesting coin! In 1909 the composition of the coin was bronze, replacing the copper-nickel composition. The reason why the 1909 Indian Head is a key date is because they halted mintage in the middle of the year to begin mintage of the 1909 Lincoln Wheat Cent. This resulted in them minting just 14.3 million 1909 Indian Head Cents, which is far lower than previous mintage years.
As you can see from the pics the coin is in very good shape, and it would come in at a nice F grade. All letters, date, and images are very bold on the coin. Every letter in the word LIBERTY on the obverse are present, which is the first thing to wear off on Indian Heads. The coin has no damage or signs of cleaning.
This is a decent grade key date coin at a great price. Please mail me for any questions or interest. Thanks!
