For sale is a great 1851 Braided Hair Large Cent. The Large Cent came right before they changed the one cent coin to the smaller version that we are familiar with today. The Large Cent, as the name implies, is much larger than today's cent. Believe it or not it was just a tad smaller than the size of a half dollar, and are made of 100% copper. The Braided Hair Large Cent was minted from 1839 to 1857.
As you can see from the pics the coin is in pretty good condition, and it would come in at a VG grade. The date, lettering, and all images are all sharp and bold. All of the letters in LIBERTY on the top of the bust head are present, which is usually the first to wear down on these old copper coins. It has typical nickels and blemishes for its grade, but it does have a couple pock marks on the obverse to the left side. I reduce the price of the coin nicely due to the marks, otherwise it would be priced much higher.
This is a great vintage coin that can be had at such a low price. Please email me with interest or questions. Thanks!
