For sale is a very cool pair of the 1934-C & 1953-B $5 Silver Certificates. Silver Certificates were a type of old currency where any person could take the Certificate into a Federal Reserve Bank and exchange the Certificate for the value of that denomination in silver. So if you have a $5 Silver Certificate, the bank would exchange it for $5 worth of silver, which at the time would have been 5 silver dollars. You could also spend it just like any other U.S. bill. The seal and serial numbers on the notes are blue. Lastly, another interesting thing about these Notes are they are prior to them adding the motto "In God We Trust" on the reverse like modern notes do. 1934 & 1953 were the only two years these $5 Silver Certificate small notes were printed.
As you can see from the pics the notes are in really good shape. The 1934 note would be considered average circulated grade, but the 1953 is considered high grade. They both still have lots of crispness to them and the blue and green prints and white background are still fairly bold and vibrant. They do have folds to them, but they have no tears, rips, or major stains.
This is great vintage currency pair to add to to any currency collection at a low price. Please email me with questions or interest. Thanks!
