1957 Ford Thunderbird project. I have about 90% of the parts needed to complete the project. I am selling this because I am now spending six months out of the year in the country of Guatemala doing missions/humanitarian work (and likely more time as I continue downsizing here) and I do not have the time to complete the project.
The 312 Y-block engine was professionally overhauled with cylinders bored .060 oversize and a stoker kit was installed increasing displacement to 337 ci. Mummert aluminum heads were installed as well as a performance camshaft (but still good for regular street use). The Ford-O-Matic transmission and torque converter were overhauled.
Disc brake upgrade was installed, and there is a new power brake booster. Power steering system is new. Generator was upgraded to an alternator.
All body work was professionally done, only needs paint and refinishing of the fiberglass hardtop. The bumpers are in excellent condition for their age.
I have all new upholstery.
The major parts that will need to be purchased are tires, driver and passenger side windows, dashboard cover, radiator (or you can have the existing radiator recored), heater core, and carburetor (or you can overhaul the existing Holley 4 barrel carb).
Sale will include original factory invoice, invoices of most parts purchased, various books including the factory service manual, Trim and Sealer Manual, Classic Thunderbird Club International (CTCI) restoration manual with all current addendums, parts manual, issues of "Early Bird" magazine (published by CTCI), and various books related to the Ford Thunderbird and the Y-block engine.
Feel free to message me with any questions. The car is located at my home in Lansing, Illinois.
I have over $28,000 invested in this car. I am asking $20,000 or best offer. Once the car is assembled and on the road, it would be, for all intents and purposes, a new car that would potentially be worth $40,000 or more. I only accept cash and/or certified check.
