Are you still running Windows 10?
Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 in October 2025, and since then hundreds of security vulnerabilities have been discovered that will never be patched. Making matters worse, Windows 11 has hardware requirements that leave many perfectly good computers behind — and thanks to recent memory shortages, new hardware is getting more expensive by the day.
Your traditional choices aren't great:
*Keep using Windows 10 and hope you don't get hit by a security exploit
*Buy new hardware just to run Windows 11
But now there's another option — migrate to Linux!
Linux is a free, secure, open-source operating system backed by a large community of developers. Virtually all popular apps and games run on Linux, and for anything that doesn't, there's usually a purpose-built alternative that's just as good.
About me
I'm a technology enthusiast launching a Linux migration consultancy and I'm looking to migrate a limited number of Windows PCs and laptops to Linux for free in exchange for honest feedback. This is a great opportunity if you have an older machine collecting dust that you'd like to breathe new life into.
What to expect
1) We meet at a convenient public location where I'll do a quick scan of your hardware and confirm it's a good candidate for migration (or if an upgrade to Windows 11 is an option).
2) I'll show you some example desktop layouts — two are posted with this ad — and you choose the look and feel you want.
3) If you decide to proceed, I'll need your machine for up to a week. I'll keep you updated along the way.
4) We meet again for the return and a brief walk-through. I'll also provide up to one hour of follow-up support via email or remote screen sharing.
A few things to know up front:
The migration will replace Windows with Linux, so any critical data on the machine should be backed up beforehand. As with any major system change there is a small element of risk, and you'll be asked to acknowledge this in writing. For these reasons this offer is best suited for a secondary machine rather than your primary daily computer.
Older hardware is welcome — it just needs to power on and stay running.
Interested? Reply with a brief description of your machine and why you are interested in participating. I look forward to hearing from you.
