You're in luck! It's still available! When you write, please let me know what day and time you would like to stop by between 11:30 a.m. and midnight -- and whether in my driveway in clear view of nine other houses, or the Wheaton Police Department vestibule. Because of massive data harvesting on this site, I do not text or make phone calls. I reply only to emails through this link and to no other. I do not reply to, "Is it still available" because that generally indicates spam.

Cut the cord! Xtar’s D28 3600 is fantastic, powered by four 18650 lithium-ion batteries, and has a large, smoothly-polished reflector to gain maximum throwing distance with a tight 8-degree beam and XHP70.2 LED at 7000k. It further has a turning/locking/illuminated magnetic switch showing approximate battery time remaining using red and flashing red at appropriate battery interval times.

Published “parameters” are also fantastic: 3600 lumens at 2.5 hours runtime on "turbo," 2000 lumens at 4.0 hours runtime on "high," and two more settings of medium and low output, with a stunning 550 meter beam-throw at 8 degrees (see attached chart). You can now cut the cord and use this as your primary light (along, of course, with two additional backup lights) for most cave and cavern dives, unless you are extending your cave dives with stage bottles. Xtar makes a really nice, sturdy lantern handle that I have for you for separate purchase, but with the 1/4 inch bolt hole cut in the flashlight's frame, you can use a number of off-the-shelf Goodman handles or Dive Rite's QRM glove very easily with little to no modification necessary. Or, use a 3D printer for the job to fashion a Goodman handle from the internet if you prefer. The lantern handle is very comfortable and allows easy swaps between hands. The Dive Rite glove is also very comfortable and frees up all fingers.

I have scoured the earth for an entire year looking for a better, brighter, similarly high-quality cordless dive light of the same size or perhaps even slightly larger with a runtime equivalent or longer. There is none other than one viable entry from Big Blue, but it uses proprietary batteries and is an unwieldly size that really is difficult to wear on a Goodman handle or Dive Rite QRM glove. (And, it's about three times the Xtar cost!) I thought that perhaps having multiple XHP70.2 LED drivers would be brighter, but I tested a cheaper light with three XHP70.2 LEDs and the light is scattered and unfocused, unable to use in caves or wrecks. And, that battery life is shorter, of course (less than one hour), because it is powering three drivers.

Back to the Xtar: I purchased several of these D28 3600 lights and used one in Mexico in a cenote on two dives that cumulatively totaled 1.5 hours and the batteries were still going strong. It's fantastic. Including the bolt snap, it weighs 36 ounces. Underwater, it is slightly more buoyant than that and feels like about a pound or maybe even a little less. It's very manageable and does not feel heavy at all. In short, if you dive caves or wrecks, you need this light.
