DOT Safety Manager / Safety Director – Trucking Compliance

Job Type: 1099 Independent Contractor – In Office
Schedule: Monday–Friday (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Pay: Negotiable based on experience

We are seeking an experienced DOT Safety Manager / Safety Director to oversee safety operations and regulatory compliance for our trucking company. This role ensures full compliance with regulations set by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

The ideal candidate will manage driver compliance, safety programs, and regulatory documentation while helping maintain safe and efficient transportation operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure company compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations
• Maintain and manage Driver Qualification Files (DQF)
• Oversee drug and alcohol testing programs
• Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) and ELD compliance
• Track and manage CSA safety scores
• Conduct accident investigations and safety reviews
• Lead driver safety training and orientation
• Maintain vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs)
• Prepare for and manage DOT audits and safety reviews
• Develop and enforce company safety policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in trucking safety, DOT compliance, or transportation safety management
• Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations
• Experience with ELD systems, HOS monitoring, and CSA score management
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• CDL or trucking industry experience preferred

Work Environment

• In-office position
• Monday–Friday daytime schedule
• Team-oriented trucking operations environment

Compensation

• 1099 independent contractor position
• Pay negotiable based on experience
